Oil & ink on paper mounted on aluminium & framed
68 x 48 cm
2023
My painting practice is process driven, meditative and focusses upon the liquid nature of life, the unseen surrounding us all the time.
Working with oil ink on paper, I allow pigment to pool, collide, separate and find its own rhythms. Fascinated by the vast atomic sea: we are immersed within ceaseless movement and exchange, largely unnoticed yet ever present.
Taking cues from details observed principally in nature but also in the urban fabric, I play with absenting thought to allow a conjured innocence and a collaboration of time, movement and materials. Colour becomes both material and energy—held, released and carried across the surface—creating spaces to enter, wander and feel. Each painting is an intimate encounter between intention and chance, gesture and gravity. Rather than illustrating connection, these works attempt to inhabit it: making perceptible something of the fluid, indivisible field in which we are always swimming.
