Griffiths’ practice explores the tension between technological systems, bodily experience, and the material forces that disrupt them. Working primarily with clay, she creates sculptural networks that evoke systems of communication, energy and connection.
In works including Wired Earth Series, Nexus and Ruptured Circuit, rigid geometric structures are interrupted by expressive, volcanic glazes that flow through channels and across surfaces. The toxic, bubbling appearance of the glaze introduces a sense of restless energy and instability, disrupting the order of the constructed forms.
The works reflect on fractured connections and the psychological tension between control and disruption, speed and grounding. Clay and glaze become active materials through which technological systems are made unstable, suggesting circuits, nervous systems and networks under pressure. The sculptures hold a tension between the engineered and the organic, the controlled and the unpredictable.
