I am exploring ambiguity with mystery, evidence hinting at human presence or absence. My prints, drawings and paintings are used to rehearse my subject which is often windows, hallways, stairways and alleyways. Print is my process range of preference, especially ‘dry-point’ as it is direct and immediate. The quality of line and mark making bring to the image a richness that is difficult to achieve in any other medium. I wipe ink from the surface of the printing plate to foster strong atmosphere and describe the essence of the subject. My aim is to enhance the ambiguity of objects in the room. I am hinting at a sense of unease.
