I am interested in how various mental states alter our engagement with reality, the way that psychological shifts can imbue seemingly banal everyday objects or even surface patterns with a kind of confused aura to hint a melancholic undertow. Childhood objects, photos, memories and textures inform her work to underpin our universal human experiences. The paintings present a portrait of a feeling, projection of mood and atmosphere, through the use of colour, brushwork and erasure. The experimental films explore a range of phenomena, fashioning the material of life with visuals that are sometimes overlaid with jarring sounds to create a sense of unease.
