In my paintings I explore imagined landscapes. I often work in series, from intimate miniatures on wood to large scale works on wooden panels, with an intentionally restricted colour palette, applying oil in thin layers to smooth hand-finished birch ply surfaces. The landscapes that emerge in my paintings are always uninhabited, solitary spaces, sometimes familiar yet otherworldly. They are drawn from experiences, both real and imagined and as such attempt to create a dreamlike tension between reality, memory and the imagination.
