Frank Morris - Walking Home at Night

£300.00

Soft pastel, charcoal and pencil on paper
40 x 40 cm
2026

My practice is rooted in an investigation of place. Through drawing walks across Bristol, I record my immediate experience of the city—its architecture and people, interacting in a constant state of flux. Back in the studio, these observations are developed imaginatively and intuitively. Although urban environments appear static, they are continuously shifting and evolving. Built through layers of soft pastel and charcoal, these compositions merge what is observed through drawing with memory and imagination. By combining the seen with the recalled, I construct strange, uncanny psychological landscapes that examine how everyday environments hold both physical presence and deep narrative weight.
