Emma Loveridge - Sleep Walk

£1,000.00

Oil on canvas
50 x 50 cm
2026

I work primarily in oil paint, using old photographs and archival film footage as a reference for my work. I am drawn to fleeting, often overlooked moments — images that exist somewhere between memory, documentation and imagination. Nostalgia is a recurring influence within my practice. I select images that hold a personal resonance to me, exploring the emotional weight they can carry and the sense of familiarity they may evoke. I am interested in what happens when an image is removed from its original context and reinterpreted through personal interpretation. I want the paintings to suggest a story without fully revealing it, allowing the viewer to bring their own memories and associations to the image. In this way, I hope to create a quiet connection between past and present, and between the remembered and the imagined.
