Fine bone china
15 x 23 cm
2024
Ceri is a contemporary ceramic artist specialising in slip-cast fine bone china. Her practice centres on creating thin-walled vessels that are hand-altered in their raw state, resulting in unique small collections. Her work explores our sense of belonging within the landscape, particularly the rugged, ever-changing rhythms of coastal environments. She captures fleeting edge moments where weather, horizon and terrain converge, revealing the dynamic relationship between people and place.
Through experimentation with texture and structural form, Ceri creates tension between traditional ceramic techniques and contemporary interpretations of landscape. Alongside her studio practice, her academic research investigates how the contemporary sublime can foster greater awareness of the climate crisis. By combining meticulous craftsmanship, material innovation and critical research, her practice bridges ceramics with environmental advocacy. Each hand-formed vessel reflects the fragility of coastal landscapes while inviting viewers to reconsider their relationship with the natural world and the vulnerability of these environments.
