Oil on canvas
113 x 79 cm
2026
Focusing on domestic interiors and architectural details, my work examines how spaces absorb human presence, memory, and meaning over time.
Performativity is central to my practice. When developing figures, I ask models to reenact actions they already perform in daily life. Ordinary behaviours such as cleaning, waiting, sitting, moving through space become conscious repetitions of themselves.
These moments are rendered with a subtle sense of melodrama, creating a heightened reality from the beautifully mundane.
The paintings are constructed on custom-made stretchers whose awkward proportions reflect spaces that have grown, shifted, or been repurposed over time. Frames made from domestic and architectural materials including radiators, fencing, and found wood are integral to the works, extending the logic of the painted space into the physical environment.
