Anna Turner - Solstice

£750.00

Acrylic and varnish on plywood panel
60 x 50 cm
2026

Anna Turner is an abstract artist living in West Yorkshire, UK using painting, installation and 3-dimensions. Principally involved in pure abstraction utilising repetition, contrast and harmonies, creating balance with weight of colour and asymmetry. Spaces of clarity and refinement. She creates hard-edged paintings that are rooted in pure form and although minimal are not reductive, not started from something more complex. Forms are independent of any basis in reality and have no symbolic meaning. Autonomous shapes, sufficient in themselves as shapes. Working on plywood panels gives the paintings a rigid structure, mixing varnish, bare wood and paint. The edges of these plywood paintings have an active role, so they can’t be viewed as a whole from a single angle. Meticulously finished, these are not digital productions but carefully constructed works leaving little to chance. They are not reductions but pure abstraction created slowly layer by layer.
